A small update this week on account of the usual postal delays that come with the holiday season. The good news is S&W finally has copies of the excellent “Analogue Paper Dreams” book from Kate Rissiek (Rusalka). The book collects a majority of her collage work from the past 15 years. It’s a beautiful presentation and comes highly recommended. Obsidian Tapes, a new experimental label out of Montreal, dropped off their first release – a collaboration between the custom-device electronics of Anne-F Jacques (Quebec) and the voice and tape manipulations of Rodrigo Ambriz (Mexico). Another new Canadian act, Murmur, sent over some copies of his tape ‘QO’, featuring two crude sound experiments that could have been conducted in a damp hallway and in the hull of a submarine, respectively. Discreet Music Mag #2 is in, featuring interviews with Greymouth and Jon Collin plus an in-depth look at the IDDB catalog, release-by-release. For those who like that Unrest Productions sound with a Japanese edge there is the new CD from Screloma. The latest from Bacillus (in apt packaging, as expected) and Gashkadin round out the update.
There will be a large drop of used items to kick off the new year. Stay tuned!
