    BIZARRESSMANIA – II CD

    FREAK ANIMAL

In 2010, Freak Animal and Filth & Violence issued ”What’s Your Pleasure, Sir?” LP by collaboration project of Bizarre Uproar, Sick Seed and Mania. Highly praised collaboration of these provocateurs of noise underground doesn’t didn’t gain it’s praise based on it’s offensiveness, but because of artistic strength. High energy levels of brutal noise makes album to stand out in mass of bleak releases. Freak Animal is still planning to reissue this album on CD during 2018.

Second collaboration of BizarreSSmania doesn’t repeat the exact same patterns. It is logical result, but also fresh. Each project has developed their sound and style during almost 10 years gap between these two releases. Second time they meet represents the fusion of current sound of projects. Bleak, rotten, crude and fierce combinations of many of the elements that each project is known for - but with different type of results what they did last time or what they do in solo works.

Slowly starting broken crackling, damaged fuzzy lo-fi sound, experimentation of utterly dirty and disgusting sounds that present album often to be what many noise releases are not: Difficult. You are guaranteed to get satisfactory amount of pure energetic noise bursts, but also disturbing, unnerving sonic damage. Raw edits and abrupt changes of atmosphere finally makes sense when you hear album as whole. It’s no use to listen couple minute fragments to preview full album.

Explicit artwork, exploitation of cheap urges and vile desires.

  11. GRUNT – Castrate the Illusionist CD

GRUNT – Castrate the Illusionist CD

    CA$15.00

    FREAK ANIMAL

Born in 1993, Grunt remains one of the most active and restless forces in Finnish - or even global industrial noise network. Since first tapes published 25 years ago, project has been active without any breaks. Messy discography makes it hard to judge how many actual ”albums” has been created. List of releases reaches close to hundred, yet most of them represents other approach than creation of ”album”. Castrate The Illusionist goes directly into line of albums such as Myth Of Blood (2015), World Draped In A Camouflage (2012), Petturien Rooli (2009) and Seer of Decay (2006).

This path of recent 10 years Grunt focused mostly on creation of coherent albums. Each album has had its own character, yet often continuation of sound and themes of the previous one. Three years between the albums often spent on smaller releases and extensive amount of live gigs.

”Castrate The Illusionist” album represents both, sonic rawness of direct live-on-tape recordings as well as obsessive care on small detail. 40 minute album consists 11 of tracks, making most of them short, loaded with strong impact what leaves one hunger for more. Sound combines traditions of experimental electronics to fierce power electronics and industrial noise, aiming to fusion of interesting textures and details without losing ripping violent force of dark side of noise.
  12. JARL - Out of Balance CD

JARL - Out of Balance CD

    CA$5.00

    MALIGNANT

Side project of Erik Jarl, member of the revered and immensely powerful heavy electronics outfit IRM. Jarl doesn’t come with the aggression of that project, but it does evoke similar feelings of instability and dementia via more atmospheric means. The disc consists of 17 tracks in total, each flowing into each other, with the early pieces having an almost cosmic heaviness (a la Inade)…pulsing and weighty, the sounds of winds sweeping across a barren and distant orb. As it progresses however, the seeds of profound sickness and decay are planted and begin to blossom…the tones and textures becoming more surreal and unsettling, the drones a bit more persistent and penetrating, abandoning listeners in a white walled room to confront their inner demons and degenerating psyche as it spirals, out of balance.
  13. JOSH LAY - True Mask CD

JOSH LAY - True Mask CD

    CA$5.00

    SMALL DOSES

it's hard to believe that this is the first josh lay release to find its way to the compact disc format. fittingly, josh considers this to be his best work to date, and i can't say i disagree. this is a four track, nearly 40 minute meditation on the masks people wear to make their way in the world. elements of black metal, harsh noise, power electronics and dark ambient combine to create a dark, twisted environment built from electronics, guitar, and some of the most gutteral vocals I've heard him spew. the accompanying art was hand-made by the artist. edition of 200 copies packaged in jewel cases with 4-panel inserts and double sided jewel cases.
  14. K2 / CONSTRAIN / FENIAN CD

    K2 / CONSTRAIN / FENIAN CD

    CA$12.00

    OXEN LABEL

CD Features four tracks- one solo track each artist: K2, Constrain and Fenian and one three way *collab.

K2‘s fluid, propulsive unmistakable shuddering masterclass soaking in layers of frenzy: ‘Sarrogate For Mass Murder’. Constrain‘s expertly delivered blasts of harsh electronics providing once again ample evidence that KDM is a master of static assault textures on ‘Recognizable Mask‘. Fenian‘s electronics meet glass smash, unrepentant harsh noise careens across multiple lanes of sonic blacktop on ‘Phenomenology‘ and *track 4; a brain bending collaboration track ‘Spreading Particles Go Smokey’ K2, using de-composed tracks/sounds from Kevin McEleney/Constrain and Matt Purse/Fenian played and mixed by K2/Kimihide Kusafuka yields a track overflowing with petulant dissonance and the repeated lightning strike of shuddering rubble blasts, culminating in a pristine surge assault of cut-up harsh noise protocol. All of the phenomenal artwork on this CD by KDM, Kevin McEleney.
  15. K2 – Rainy Tritium 1 CD

    K2 – Rainy Tritium 1 CD

    CA$12.00

    OXEN LABEL

New work from a master of long form compositional excellence, K2’s Rainy Tritium 1 comes in time for what to me seems like a most perfect match for the time- a soundtrack for bleak collapse, broken boundaries of torturous blasts yielding fluttering, caustic textures and exploring an atmosphere of sonic varieties for which K2 is been mining lately. If you’ve seen any of his ambitious Dommune broadcasts from Japan then you’ll likely be familiar with the valedictory density of K2’s aggressively satisfying noise oblivion and if you haven’t, then this full length (60+ minute) 3 track CD 1. Pollution with Huge Lies, 2. MOX, 3. Unpeaceful Song For Rainy Tritium will be most necessary listening. Artwork by Breathing Problem.

    KOUFAR – Phoenicianism CD

    CA$18.00

    OLD CAPTAIN

"Phoenicianism is an attempt to put on display the further identity crisis that many of the Lebanese face. Whether its over there, or here in America the confusion reigns supreme. Arab or Phoenician? Western or Eastern? Christian or Muslim? Identity often dictates politics, but with the Lebanese that is not consistent. Historically the only thing consistent is instability. An instability creating frictions that slowly grind against one another until the only eastern answer is reached, violence. Caught between Eastern values and Western luxuries. This album attempts to reflect all of this, while mixing in the artists own personal experiences of living a life of dualism. Misbaha beads or "Worry" beads? Christ or Shams? Allah or Mawt? Walk the edge of the boxcutters razor and make your offering." Remastered and accompanied with an exclusive material the CD is released in a full-colour matte-laminated 6-panel Digipak in edition of 300 copies.
  18. KRISTOFFER NYSTROMS ORKESTER - Overlook Hotel CD

KRISTOFFER NYSTROMS ORKESTER - Overlook Hotel CD

    CA$5.00

    MALIGNANT

Overlook Hotel heralds the return of the mighty KNO, the collaborative project between Swedish industrial legend Peter Nystrom (Megaptera, Negru Voda), and Norwegian up and comer Kristoffer Oustad (V:28, Plague Machinery). 5 years after the highly acclaimed brakeHEAD CD, KNO welcomes you into the Overlook Hotel, where every room has a ghost, and every room has a story to tell. Travel the hallways and explore, as you venture into a more cerebral musical state than what brakeHEAD offered, where ghostly transmissions and hypnotic layers of surreal, ethereal atmospheres intersect with disembodied voices, clattering, furnace blasting percussion, and of course, healthy injections of true, old fashioned industrial noise and sweeping doom, done in the best Scandinavian style (imagine if Deutsch Nepal had continued in the same path laid down by Benevolence and you start to get the idea). The pacing of the album is truly impeccable, flowing seamlessly from to track, as if moving from room to room in a hazy, dream state, the layering and cohesiveness on a whole nothing short of meticulous. In 6 panel digipak.

    MK9 – Resist 3” CD-R

    CA$6.00

    NEURAL OPERATIONS

This is a second edition of 193. Extra covers from the original release had been stored since 2005. Initially I was unsatisfied with the darkness of the blacks and front image centering. But part of me hates waste, so these were finally used and assembled into this version. Because the initial recordable discs had a larger capacity and currently unavailable, some silence and space between tracks had to be trimmed. Also a small amount of audio was removed from one track so it would all fit within the capacity of the discs.
